LAWN TENNIS.

Tim Auckland Herald says:— The team selected to represent Auckland in the introprovjneial match against Taranaki on Tuesday, February 17, should give general satisfaction, as it is quite representative of tennis in Auckland. The team is a strong one and is well balanced, and should have an exceedingly good chance of defeating the redoubtable Taranaki representatives. While the first two or three members of the Taranaki team will probably more than hold their own, the Auckland men should do well against the remaining members of the team. In the ladies matches Auckland seems to have an advantage, and much depends on their efforts, for it will be remembered that it was owing to this fine play of the ladies (hat Auckland succeeded in defeating Taranaki two years ago. There is little fault to lie found with the ladies' team, and it is questionable if they would have anything to fear from any other provincial team cf six lady representatives. As the selectors liave already notified the manner in which the players are to pair in the double and combined matches, \tk to he hoped that the chosen players frill take every opportunity of getting as much combined practice as possible between now and the date of the match.
