LORD GLADSTONES RETIREMENT. THE INDEMNITY BILL. A MONUMENT OF MENDACITY. 1 By Cable—Press Association—Copyright Capetown, February 10. The rumors that Lord Gladstone is retiring are not entirely without foundation, but his retirement i s not connected with industrial matters, and is probably due to Lady Gladstone's ill-health.
Mr. Cresswell, M.P., described General Botha as Louis L, by the Grace of God Defender of Mine-owners. He asserted that the preamble of the Bill contained statements making it a monument of mendacity. The law already provided penalties for inciting to cease work. The charge of treason waf the flimsiest since the case of Titus Oates. He admitted there was a conspiracy, but the conspirators occupied the Treasury benches.
