The Reeks Murder
ROGERS RELEASED. VERDICT OF WILFUL MURDER. ANOTHER CLUE FOLLOWED. By Cable —Press Association—Copyright Montreal, February 10. The immigration authorities have finally decided to release Rogers, who was arrested in connection with the Reeks murder. ' London, February 10. Carbonic acid gas prevented an experienced miner descending the Kttingshall pit shaft. At the inquest on Reeks a verdict was returned of wilful murder by some unknown person. I The coroner stated that there was ! not the slightest doubt that Reeks was cruelly murdered. The police were quite unable to ascertain what brought Reeks to the neighborhood or to trace his movements after he left Liverpool. , ■ The police enquiry regarding telegrams sent by two American sailors from Liverpool to Wolverhampton notifying someone that they were visiting a friend shows that they were despatched 6ome days after Reeks left Liverpool.
THE INQUEST. Received 11, 11.20 p.m. London, February 11. At the inquest, Thomas Kent gave evidence that he did not know of any connection with Reeks and the black country. Reeks did not mention Ratusdei. Dr. Ashley Smith thought the two shots were fired as Reeks was falling. The bullets and live cartridges 'vere of less weight than that found in the brain. There was no signs that Reeks was drugged.
