At the Supreme Court, (ieorge Johnston stood his second trial on a charge of taking part in a riot in Feathers*on street on November 5. The jury agiiti disagreed, and a third trial was ordered for the next criminal session, accused being allowed bail in the meantime. At the I rial of Edward Uuiiter, on a charge of sedition, arising out of a speech at Newtown l'ark on December 14, when he was alleged to have said that "if people wanted revolution they could have it," evidence of the word's used was given by Melville Edwards, reporter, and Detectives Lev,is ami Dempsev.
Accused then entered the bo*, and denied that the published report of bis speech was either accurate or fair. He had said: "You must have 'right' (not 'might') behind you." lie was a Socialist, and the speech was a propaganda speech. Tie did not use the word?: "We had our fellow workers murdered at. Waihi." Mr. Wilford addressed the Court at' length, and the Chief Justice reserved his summing up till to-morrow.
