PROMOTING NEW PLYMOUTH.
EXPANSIOX AND TOURIST LEAGUE A meeting of the New Plymouth Expansion and Tourist League was held last evening, there being pi'es.mt: Messrs. T. C. List (chainiiun), 8. W. .Shaw, A. E. Sykes, A. 11. McDiarmid, Jas. Morey, and A. Mcllardy. In connection with the visit of the pressmen to New Plymouth next week, it was decided to make arrangements for the conveyance of the visitors to Moturoa to inspect the oilwo.hs, ele. The matter of arranging a Now Plymouth gala for -next Christmas week was discussed at length, and will be further considered at a special meeting . to be held at an early date. A sub-committee was appointed to arrange for the circulation throughout Australia of the Leagued literature. The finances were considered, and it was decided to make a special cll'ort to collect the subscriptions promised and to take steps to put the finances on a more stable footing. It was reported that this season had ■ established a record so far as visitors J to the town were concerned. Tim need of more accommodation in the town as well as at the mountain house van severely felt. This and other questions are, to be considered at another meeting. It was reported that the book.et recently produced by t4ie League had been favorably received everywhere, and that nearly every newspaper in the Dominion had drawn attention to it and commented favorably upon its get-up and ( contents.
