CHRISIX•IIIJRCH SESSIONS. By Telegraph—Press Association. , Christchurch, Last Xight. John Pritclnird pleaded guilty to assaulting Annie Brandt, at Marshlands, on January 1, so as to cause her actual bodily harm, and was sentenced to three months' imprisonment. William Joseph Gaffey, who pleaded guilty to two charges of breaking and entering and theft, hud 30 convictions for drunkenness against him. He was sentenced to six months' imprisonment. Frederick Jackson, who was found guilty on the previous day of the thoft of a motor-, bicycle, was sentenced to tliree months' imprisonment.

THE WELLINGTON RIOTS. Wellington, I. st Night. At the Supreme Court, to-day, the retrial of Samuel Thompson, charged with taking part in the riot on Waterloo Quay, on October 30, resulted in his acquittal. Robert Hill was re-tried for taking part in the Taranaki Street riot on November 4. The jury disagreed, and a new trial was_ ordered for the May sessions, Tfill being allowed bail. DUXETMN SESSIONS. Duncdin, Last Night. At the Supreme Court to-day, Roderick Mnnro and James Alfred Martin were convicted on a charge of stealing various articles from hotels. Sentence was deferred. Martin was also convicted on another charge of stealing an overcoat. Both accused were further charged with entering the dwelling of William John Coughlan (Crown Hotel) by night, with intent to steal. The jury returned a verdict of guilty. John Thomson was charged with falsifying nn Education Board certificate : with intent* to deceive the railway ' authorities when applying for work. The accused admitted the forgery, but denied intent. The jury found a verdict fov acquittal without leaving the box. Mnnro and "Martin were sentenced to «ix months' imprisonment on each charge, and to be afterwards detained for reformative treatment, for a period not exceeding three years"; Sentences to be concurrent. John McKay, charged with assault, was found not guilty. .
