Evidence was given by postal and bank clerk- as to telegrams and clu'iiuo-, which had been sent to one'!), Porter, whose wife stated that she had telegraphed to Scott and Martindale in her husband'- name to alter hi* address. Shi: had received a letter from Scott and .Martindale, addressed to her husband, and containing a cheque and 4 betting list. David Porter, hu-baud of the hint witness, refused to answer n question by Oriel' Detective P.roberg as to whether he had before December received betting cards from Scott and Martindalv.
