At Monday sight'* meeting of the Borough Council, Mr. T. C. Fookes, (Borough Solicitor, was granted six inonihs' leave, of absence during his health tj-ip to th» Old Land, the Connoil adding the wish thai Mr. Fookes will return quite restored to health. During Ms absence, Mr. A. C. "Lawry, i-Jolicitor, at present managing clerk, will have charge of Mr. Fooke's business. Mrs. C. Massay left by yesterday morning's express on a four months' holiday. Mr. S. Ward has sold bis residence in Pembroke, road to Mrs. Mcßeth, of Snglewood, well known as a terpsichorean expert. Mr. 11. Alexander, of the Wellington staff, succeeds Mr. Rcnnell as accountant at the Bunk of New Zealand in Stratford.
