MUST PROVIDE MEALS. By Telegraph—Press Association. Waiigiinui, Last Night. A hotelkeeper's obligation to the (ravelling public formed the crux of an interesting case heard in the Court today, when T. .1. Jloddcr, licensee of the Cpokongaro Hotel, was charged with Having refused to provide a meal for tww men who arrived at the hotel about midnight. They had travelled all day. being engaged bringing young horses from Jerusalem, on the Waiiganui River, to the horse fair. The night was very rough when they reached Cpokongaro, and they aroused the licensee of the hotel, who directed them to the paddock and slables, and afterwards showe.l them to a room. They asked for supper, but the licensee said he could not awaken the servant that hour of t!i" night., and al>o refused bread and dices-'.
Tli« licensee, in evidence, declared the men did not insist on obtaining food. The magistrate inflicted u fine'of £\ with £3 Ss costs. ||.. remarked that l.ulelkeepeVH had "real privileges, but -nmctiiiii'* they forgot their obligations lo the ]»iblie. It was a oasu of this son that gave a handle to the prohibitionists.
