FROM CONSTANT! N'Ol'LE. By Cable—Press Association—Copyright Constantinople, February 8. The police, without consulting the Austro-Hungarian Consulate, expelled Herr Kienast, correspondent of the Xeuc Frcie Press*, for sending- certain telegrams. When the steamer arrived at Smyrna Herr Kienast was liberated, owing to a strong Austrian protest. Herr Kienast will return to Constantinople. The incident has created a bad impression, in view of the Porte's recent assurances that it. would prevent the police infringing treaties.
