Two hundred delegates, of whom ten were from each province, surrounded King Gustaf on a dais and affirmed their willingness to bear .burden of increased armaments. Thunders of applause greeted the King's reply. The demonstration was the move •noteworthy because, until 180 C, the peasants were a separate estate of the realm.
