THE PANAMA CANAL.

TOLL EXEMPTION BILL CONDEMNED BY PRESIDENT WILSON. By Cable—Press Association —Copyright AVanhington, February 6. The AA'ilson administration has introduced a measure to repeal the Cac.U toll exemption. A message is expected from President AA'ilson commending immediate action by the Lower House. Despite the fact that exemption from tolls was a plank in the Democratic platform it is not expected that there will be any difficulty in carrying the Bill through the House of Representatives.

Received S, 5.5 p.m. London, February 7. A cable, from Baltimore states that President AA'ilson, writing to a friend, declares the exemption of American vessels from canal tolls constitutes a very mistaken policy from every view point. The measure is economically unjust and only benefits a monopoly.
