STOWAWAYS OX THE MANUKA. By Telegraph—Press Association. Wellington, Wednesday. Three stowaways were found on the steamer Manuka, which arrived to-day from Sydney. They were to have been handed over to the police, but while the vessel was being moored the two slipped down the lines to the wharf, mingled with the crowd and disappeared. The third was arrested.
THE QUESTION OF HOMEWORK. Auckland. Yesterday. The question of homo-work in primary schools was discussed by the Education Board, when the following resolution was adopted:—"That the Board of Inspectors be asked to enquire into and report on the whole question of what is known us homo-work in primary schools." It was also decided to ask the Teachers' Institute for a report on the subject.
