NELSON OBSERVATORY.

A SUITABLE LOCALITY. By Telegraph—Press Association. 'Nelson, Uisl Might. Mr. Jolin Evershed, of Kadaikanal Molur Observatory, India, who has been in Nelson for the last month to advise in connection with tlite erection of the Cauthron Observatory, left here this evening en route for India, having completed luh task. In a report to Mr. Cawthi'on, Mr. Evershed speaka highly of the Kiiitability of Nelson, from geographical and elimatological points of view, for the purpose of solar physics and research. In some respects it is superior to the natural advantages of Kodaikanal. He tested ten possible sites, of which six were found quite satisfactory as far us astronomical conditions are concerned. The final de- , cision regarding the site will be made later. Mr. Evershed also reported on the equipment of the observatory.
