John McDevitt, of Wilkcsbarre, Pennsylvania, who recently created a sensation in New York by spending a large fortune in a single day, arrived by special train announcing that- he intended to place his'statue,-recently executed by a prominent American sculptor, in the Hall of Fame at, the Capitol buildings. McDevitt, amid hosts of laughing and cheering friends, motored to a hotel and spoke from the balco'ny announcing himself as the most successful failure throughout the United States, and consequently entitled to a niche in the nail of Fame.
