TARANAKI SHOW.
The Metropolitan Society of the district is holding its annual show ami 2nd autumn show on February 25 and 20. Until last year this society, like the majority of other societies in New Zealand, held its annual show in the spring each year, but as it was always unfortunate with the weather it was decided to change to the autumn. That this change is popular is shown by the great number of entries that have been received from settlers who have never yet exhibited at any show, and also by the keen ia- . tere.st that is being taken by nil the country people who, now tlie bu-y season is over have made up thi'ir minds to have a couple of days at Taranaki's bin function. A glance "at the schedule will be sufficient to convince anyone that those who have made up their .minds to attend the show will have plenty to interest them. Several new classes have been introduced this year, including a harnessing and unharncs.-ing competition for ladies, a green feed competition, and a gift calf competition. The latter competition seems to meet with generii favor, as numerous entries have already been received and a number of oUie.-s promised. The schedule has been ~r-ranged ranged with groat care by those who have had the experience of year;, so that the wants of one and all are provided for. Entries (dose definitely on February 14. Schedules may be ol)ta : nr.l on application to the secretary, Mr. t. \i. Humphries. P.O. box 1!). JCew Plymouth.
