The curator (.Mr W. AY, Smith) rcporteil that the wet anil windy weather >f iln' first (wo weeks in December had impeded the general work in the Park, i ml had left a lot of rubbish to be removed. Tlie pine tree blown down duv:ng the gale, near the Garrington Road '•iiti'miiT, was cut up into firewood and Mild, but had not yet been removed. Three days before Christinas he had been able to continue the mowing of rough irrass and grubbing young gorse almost uninterruptedly. The whole had been burnt, and now the nark was almost free from any danger of lire. He was 'till continuing the work of mowing and burning rough' grass and pine rubbish, lie called attention to the condition of parts of the floor of the verandah of tbe tiiolliiiusc, three of the corners requiring immediate attention. The bearers were rotten beneath the Door. Tbe work would require to be done bv a practical carpenter; as three of the verandah posts were also defective. He again drew attention to the disgraceful state of the sports ground after the recent Maori sports. Cnlcss the loose papers scattered about were cleared up they uere blown all over the walks. The chairman stated that the rep.-irs asked for by the curator would be attended to. / GENERAL. Mr K. Webster will be thanked for a donation of Oregon pine (Douglas fir) end white pine seed, which he has ob!,.iiied from a lumberman in th • United Slates of America and presented to the Hoard. t'
Mr Hughes presented a .lan of the l'ark, prepared by tbe Survey Department, showing a total area of over 51 acres. A vote of (banks was passed to the Department for supplving the plan. It was decided to notify liie Borougn Inspector that the Hoard is now ready for the metal which the gaol officials have donated for the paths at (lie Park. The chairman reported that, with regard to the arbitration between tbe Moan! and the Sport- ('oui.nittee, the Christmas holidays had interfered with the negotiations, which were, however, well in hand. Mr W. X. Kwing had been appointed as arbirulor for the Sports Committee, and'Mr J. S. S. Medley for I lie Hoard. A letter from the Secretary to the Sports Committee confirmed Mr Ewing's appointment.
The credit balance at tile bank was .(•ported to be £iS 10s (Id. Mr VV. L. Xewman was appointed visitor for the month. Accounts amounting to £1 lis were pasM'd for payment.
