MACHINERY DESTROYED. liy Telegraph—Press Association. Wellington, Friday. A lire occurred in the machinery and titters"shop of the railway maintenance >,\'orks at Kaiwarra this morning. The building was a wo«den one and very old, and it was nuicldy destroyed. The main loss, however, was in the destruction of the machinery, which was comparatively new. The total loss is estimated at about .130(H). The cause of the lire is unknown. It evidently started near the boiler-house.
