Details have been received of a proposal, which is stated to be Hearing finality, to start a- new line of steamships between the Pacific Coast and Australia. The promoters are the Merchants' Trust and 'Trading Company, of Vancouver. It is reported the company is backed by several prominent, Iyiglish capitalists, and has a subscribed capital of a million dollars. The intention is to run a monthly or bi-monthly line of 13-knot vessels, with extensive insulated space, and but one class of passenger accommodation, direct to Melbourne, with the option of calling at airy other ports in Australasia.
