A boy named .Mullan. entering bis parents' room, discovered his mother on the bed with her bead frightfully battered, her nose and ear cut oil', but still alive. Siie died in the hospital. The boy's father, .duiii's .Mullan, was missing. Some hours Inter, the proprietor of Oylies Baths at Coogec., saw Mullan, fully clothed, jump from the rocks into the sea, and plunged to the rescue. .Mullan was raving about killing his wife, and a desperate struggle ensued for twenty minutes, but in the end the man managed to rescue Jlullan, who was taken to the. police station. He was in a bad \\\i}-, but recovered.

The cause is a mystery. Jlullan and his wife and five children lived happily. Mullan suffered from heart trouble, and was under medical treatment. It is presumed that in a lit of dementia he attacked his sleeping wife.
