WOMAN INCENDIARY.
A FATAL FilllC. By Cable—Press Association—Copyright Brisbane, January 27. The Girls' Salvation Army ome in the Taringa suburb of Brisbane was destroyed by fire this morning. The inmates jumped from the second story. Two were incinerated, one (Med from her injuries. Six others were injured. Received 27, 9.20 p.m. .Brisbane,. January 27.
After the fire at the Salvation Army [ Industrial Home for Women at Tar- ' inga, a married woman named Martingale, an inmate (if the home, surrendered to the police and confessed that she had started the fire, and had thriso previously attempted to burn the home, j There were 32 inmates. The lire had a strong hold when discovered. Excepting the Army stall', who wece cool and rendered assistance, the women were in a state of panie. A number on the upper storey were cut oft by the flumes, and jumped from the balcony, six receiving injuries. Three lives were lost. A girl named Dcmer was lnirncd to death. Mrs. llalbum was shockingly burned. Mrs. Manzel was injured bv jumping from a balcony ami succumbed.
