A thanksgiving service in connection with the Australian Anniversary Day was held in St. Dunstans-in-the-Ea.st, conducted by Bishop Ilanncr, of Rochester, and Bishop Thornton, late of Ballarat. The congregation numbered 150, mostly ladies. The Rev. C. E. Doudney. formerly of South Australia, in a stirring sermon on the text, "Righteousness cxal'tcth a nation," emphasised the fact that Australia was the only instance of a nation founded without bloodshed. He hoped Australia would lead in civilising and Christianising the bad old world. The Wattle Day League's reception at the. Meirop'.'lc was largely attended.
