The house was u wooden one containine live rooms. valued nt £4. W. It contained .furniture and household effects valued at £lOll. the property of the schoolmaster. llr. ('. J. Evetts, which were also totally destroyed. There was no insurance mi the furniture, so that Mr. lCvctts is a loser to the extent of its value. The lionse was unoccupied at the time of the lire, Mr. Evetts and his wife having left Oaomii on December 12, ou a visit to Xew Plymouth to spend a holiday. The origin of the five is a mystery.
