Tho (Staffordshire police state, that lleeks travelled from Canada tfuder ail assumed name. His shoes were so scratched as to suggest that the body was dragged to the pit by the overcoat. The police are coming to the contusion that the crime was not the work of a siugle person. It is suggested that bloodhounds be used to trace tho murderers. The cartridge cases near the body were of an old pattern, being filed to lit a modern weapon. Experts say the I cartridges were made abroad. The police are searching for Keeks' companion, T. H. Kamsden, of Chicago. They appeared •to be close friends. Kamsden apparently went to Leeds on Monday and lleeks saw him o(T at the station. REEKS' INJURIES NOT SELFINFLICTED. "London, January 24. Medical examination proved conclusively that Reeks' wounds were not self- • inflicted. "E. S. Hyne," the assumed name under which ho travelled hitherto, has caused the police much difficulty.
NO ASSUMED NAME. Received '25, 5.5 p.m. London, January 24. Fifty soft-nose and fifty solid cartridges were purchased at Liverpool on Monday by two men, one answering the description of frocks' mysterious friend. The other was possibly Recks. The statement that Reeks travelled by an assumed, name is erroneous. Ho was known by his fellow passengers as Re?ks, and his luggage was properly labelled. A WOMAN IN THE CASE? Received 25, 5.5 p.m. London, January 24. The Daily Mail states that a woman's hatpin has been, found near Reeks, and probably a woman was concerned in the case.
