A DISTRESSING CASE. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Christchurch, Yesterday. ! William and Annie M'Every were charged with breaches of prohibition orders. They have young children living iwith theiu. The parents, when in court, begged to be permitted to keep ,the children. The woman was sent to. Pakatoa for two years, and the man was convicted and discharged. Four children were committed to the Nazareth Home, and inquiries are being made "* to discover if the fifth child can go to Pakatoa with its mother. RAID ON CiAMINU HOUSE. Wellington, Yesterday. r As a result of the raid on a Chinese gambling den, two Chinese were fined £5 each or six weeks' imprisonment, two others £2 each, and three Europeans £.?• each.
