The Land Conference, representing tha chief agricultural bodies, has published a reply to the Aeland Committee report. The conference, while, agreeing that laborers' wages must be improved, condemns the proposed Wages Board and Land Courts and other remedies, and contends that the excessive load of taxation on land partly explains the diminution of the arable area and the low wages. The conference suggests the appointment of commissions of praclicil men in various districts to enquire into wages, and stimulate public opinion to secure fair wages.
