A six-rooneni rouse on the' Awahuri Road, near Feilding, was destroye I by lire on Saturday night, through a defective chimney. Most of the furniture was saved. I). C'oopcV, the owner is away, and the insurances are not known. Hayes, th-j occupier, had his furniture .insured for £IOO in the Northern office.
HOUSE AXI) SliOl' CIUTTKJ). Ai'.ckiard. Yesterday. A six-roomed house, with fiirniturii and effects, also an empty shop on -Mount Kden Itoad, owned and occupied by A. C. Pillinger, were destroyed by fire at midnight. The occupants escaped in their night-clothes. The furniture was- uninsured, and it is understood there was an insurance for £lo() on the house and shop.
