The lirsl match for Hie Taranaki dial, lenge shield was fired on Thursday at Kaponga. when the Kapouga Rille Club defeated Eltham by. 27 points. The conditions were eight men n-side, seven shot*,at each of the 300, 500 and 600 yards ranges. The respective scores were: Kaponga, 740, Eltham 713. Rifleman F. Vincent, of Eltham, with 07, was 1 the lop scorer for the day. Kaponga 9 shooting was very consistent. Rifleman C. Guy scoring 96, Pvcs. Guy 95, Rifleman A. Harrison i>s, Rifleman O'Neill 91 and Riileman C. Bollard 94.
