BOWLING.
TOURNAMENT DOUBLES. By Cable—Press Association—Copyright Dunedin, Last Night. The doubles competition in the Bowling Tournament was completed yesterday, when Harraway (Dunedin) (0 beat Smellic (Green Island) Hi. .Scott (Caledonian) beat Munro (Thorndou) for third place. THE PATEA CLUB'S POSITION'. Nominations for the Taruuaki tournament closed on .Monday last, and the local club will not be represented thin year (says the Patea Press), much to the regret of several members. Geographically, Patea is in the Taranaki province, but the Dominion Bowling Executive thought fit to include the Patea Club in the Wangnnui centre when the '•re-arrangement of districts took place. As the results of meetings held early 'in November last, the Wangnnui Howling Executive were asked to agree to Patea, transferring to Taranaki, but, so. far, the Executive have not given any decision in the matter. The Taranaki tournament is open only to those chilis affiliated to the centre,' hence the reason of Patea being unable to be represented. The action of the Waiiganni Executive in prolonging their discussion •after repeated requests had been made for a reply lias caused the local club considerable inconvenience. Ruck a. course as that pursued by the Executive does not lend to foster the interests of bowling in any way. Six rinks of bowlers from the New Plymouth Club will play a similar num-ber-of rinks from the Stratford Club at 'Stratford on Thursday next.
