The Evening Mail understands that at this afternoon's meeting of the Hospital and Charitable Aid Board a letter will be received from Mr. T.'Cawtbroii. donor of the solar observatory, giving £15,01)0 for a new hospital. With the Government subsidy, £33,000 will be available, for the. purpose. It is understood this is the largest gift any public body in New Zealand has received during a life time. [The late Sir John Logan Campbell gave bis ''One-tree Hill" estate to the citizens of Auckland during his lifetime. The value of the gift 'has been estimated at nearly a quarter of a million sterling.]
