FARM AND DAIRY.

The returns of the Warea, Cow-testing Association for the period ending December 2!), 1913. show that the highest herd average! was Sfiolbs of mill;, with a test of 4.13, producing 30.fw!l> of butterfat. The lowest herd average was (iTSIb of milk, with a 3.."> test, equal to 23.731b of butter-fat. The average for the Association was 7(11.311) of milk, a 3.75 test and 28.401b of buttei-fat. The (highest 'individual yield calculated for 30 days was 11-lftlb of milk, with a 4.1 test and producing .">4.721b of butter-fat, while the. lowest individual yield was 3001b of milk. 2.8 test, and 10 081b of fat. An illustration of the vapid improvement which lias been made in the lands of the Wnikato came under the notice of Mr. Pari', Mayor of Auckland, who has .lately ilieen making a tour of the Auckland province. Eleven years ago a small dairy farm near Cambridge was sold at £l4 per acre; last month it brought £47 10s per acre. The best land in this district is valued at" i'4o per acre, and farmers declare that, while butter and cheese maintain their values, this land can be worked profitably. In the' Thames Valley, good dairy land in a higli) state of cultivation can be. obtained at £ls to £2l) per acre. Even these prices are not no high as the values placed upon dairy farms in Taramiki and Wellington, and while their produels command the world's markets, stieh assessments, he considers, cannot be considered unreasonably high.
