The scores are now as follows: —Mason and Davies 10, Barnes and (ivies !), Kelling and Miles H\'«, Dodds and Stew, art 7, Grierson and Severne (i, Myers .■;, W'inglield and James -1, Hicks and Moore -2. THE FINAL ROI'XD. Auckland, January 12. The. final round of the chess championship commenced this morning. The pairing and openings were: -Davies v. Dortd, Kuy Lopez; tirierson v. Moore, liny Lopez; Miles v. Hicks, centre counter gambit; Myers v. Mason, Kuy Lopez; Sevcrne v. Gyles, three knights game; Stewart v. Kelling, centre counter gambit; Wingfield v. Barnes, king's bishop opening; James a bye. At the mid-day adjournment the games all appeared perfectly level with one exception. Wingfield has lost a pawn, and all the others have equal pieces and pawns, reckoning a knight as equal to a bishop. The greatest interest lies in the games between Myers and Mason and Davies and Dodds. In the former each has a rook and five pawns, and the position look- very drawish. In the latter, besides the queen, two rooks and seven pawns each. Davics has two knights, while Dodds has a bishop and a knight. 'Neither side appears to have any advantage. FINAL SCORE?. Auckland, Last Night. The final scores are:—Mason 11, Davies, Barnes and Gyles 10, Kelling 0%, Miles 8&, Dodds B,"Stewart 7, Grierson (>'/., Severn? fi, Mvers 5, James and Wingfield 4, Hicks 3, Moore 2%. Moaon therefore wins the championship.
