The theft of a motor-car and accessories resulted in the appearance ol # young man named Arthur Allen Edenborough in the police court today, before Mr. E. C. Cutten S,XL, charged with breaking into a shed belonging to W. P. Goodhue and stealing a rug, a kit of tools, and some benzine, valued at £2 10s, and with breaking and entering the garage of J. W, Soutar and stealing a new Ford motor car, together with a quantity of benzine and lubricating oil, valued at £2OB. Accused was not represented by counsel. Chief-Detective McMahon stated tlmt accused first of all broke into Goodhue's shed and took his far, in which lie drove to Soutar's garage. He entered the garage in the early hours of the morning, and took a new car, leaving the other in exchange. Taking ft supply of oil, benzine and food, ho started on a tour of the North with » young girl. He was arreted at Mangawai, oil his way to RusHl. Arthur Maryschureh, manager for J. W. Soutar and Co., who have a garage in Gore Street, stated that he locked up the garage about C n.m. on December 10. He stated that he would sell the car for £IOO if be could pet it, but that he would get rid of it somehow or other, as he was anxious to leave the country and go to Sydney or the South Sea Tslands.lle had a snpnlv of food with him in the shape of tinned meat. Accused pleaded guilty, and was committed to Hie Supreme Court for sentence.
