POLITICIAN'S NOVEL TEST. By Cable—Press Association—-Copyright Washington, January S. Representative Cuminings, of Annapolis, Maryland, who is opposed to wosuffrage, offered to present a suffrage petition to the State Legislature if the suffragettes succeeded, as they proposed, in walking from lialtimore to Annapolis. A little band of women, covered twenty-eight miles in four days, but four ojilv were able to complete the trip. Representative Cumipings, however, presented the petition. New York suffragettes made a .similar journey from Albany to the State capital and presente'd a petition to the Governor.
