' Tlie.se show that twelve sittings of the court were presided over by the Stipendiary Magistrate, and it by Justice* of the I'eace. The magistrate heard Si) cases in his ordinary jurisdiction, and four in extended jurisdiction. The aggregate amount sued for was £1045 ;)s Id (December quarter last year- £2327 '2s 7d); and the aggregate, amount recovered was £11.">7 17s 3d (£1258 2s lid). Two (live) applications were heard in court or chambers, and two (four) orders were made other than on judgment summons. The plaints issued' \ve*c 17D (191). distress warrants issued 15 (10); judgment summonses issued 2:1 (25); orders made on judgment .summons 12 (10); warrants of committal i-siicd 0 (2); writs of arrest issued nil (1); summonses and other processes served by the bailiff and assistants within two miles 70 (1-20); over two miles 51 (34); distress warrants within two miles 9 (12) : over two miles 1 (2); warrants of committal served by the bailiil' 3 (1). The amount of civil fees paid in stamps was 111 19 2s, as against £l2B 4s in the corresponding quarter last year; ami tin? amount of licensing fees paid in stamps was CO 2s (£5 ISs). The return of criminal eases shows that 130 males and one female were tulien into custody (previous December quarter, K!l male's, 3 females). Criminal fees were £l7 Is 0(1 ( £24 lis), and fines £lO2 10s ( £42 lis lid). Ten old age pensions were granted, and two refused. For the year 01 pensions were granted. The returns for the foiir quarters show that in the-.March, quarter £llO9 14s 5d was sued for and £1034 17s recovered; .Tune uiiarter, £1011) 5s 5d and £IO7O 10s 7d; September quarter, £l7ll- 10s 5,1 and £1145 5s 4d; December quarter, C 1(1-15 3s Id and £1157 17s 3d; aggregate amount sued for in the vcar-, £OuSS 13s 4d; recovered, £4408 10s 2d.
Plaints issued were: March quarter, 130, June 13',), September 155, December 170; distress warrants, 21, 22, 0, and 15; judgment summonses "27, 33, 10, 23; aggregates, 000 plaints, 04 distress warrants, and 0!) judgment summonses.
In the criminal returns it is scon that, the total number of persons apprehended or. taken into custody for tlie year was 3X7: criminal fees paid in stamps amounted to £OO 18s, and lines £220 Os (id.
