DECEASED PERSONS' ESTATES. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Wellington, Yesterday. The estates of 251 deceased persons were assessed for stamp duty during the month of November, the largest .being that of John Logan Campbell, of Auckland, £227,!>M. The New Plymouth estates were: William Spearman Young £10,305, Richard Morrow £tf>l2, William Burns Francis £2237, George S. Wood £2007, Helenc Carstens £1133, Walter Hewes £946, and Anne Player £794.
ASSAULT BY A CHINAMAN. Blenheim, Yesterday. A stabbing affray occurred last night in the pit lobby of His Majesty's Theatre, during a performance of Fuller's pictures. A Chinaman, named |!Chow Lee, had an altercation with a young man named Percy Maddock, and 'drew a pocket knife and stabbed Mad•eUck in the face, necessitating the wound Iwing stitched. The Chinaman appeared in court this morning and was remanded. ALLEGED EMBEZZLEMENTS. ;" ' Bunedin, Yesterday. Frederick William Donaldson, an exclork of the Union Company in Dunedin, was arrested at Wellington on a charge 'of embezzling £7 odd and was further remanded for a week. It is stated that tho total defalcations are about £BO.
