Robbers invaded the premises "of a farmer named Kovanko, near Stanitza, in the Caucasus. Failing to find money, the robbers tortured Kovanko in the presence of his wife and grandchildren. They out oil' his nose, ears and fingernail.;, and then his ihi/rcrs. After putting petroleum on Kovanko's clothes, incinerated him. The robbers subjected J'.'oviinkn's wife and "randchiltlren to untamable atrocities. Then fhev burned the woman to death, and caught the children by the legs and dashed them to death against a waU. Four have been arrested.
