The secretary of the General Post Office lias been advised by wireless, 'ottiglit, that, the TTiinitnnsi Ims boon towed by bunches to Whangaroa Harbor, Chatham Islands, and is now safe. A PREVIOUS MISHAP. The steamer liimitangi is owned by the Chatham Islands Fishing- Company. This mishap forcibly illustrates the advantage of wireless. It is the second time the vessel has met with misfortune at the Cliatliains, On January 31, 1012, she left Wellington, and on Februav U went ashore in Petre 'Bay, Chatham Islands. It was 3-1 davs' before the news reached New Zealand. Naturally, her Ion? absence caused considerable anxiety, and three steamers were dispatched to search for her, viz., TT.M.R. Pioneer, the Government train-inf-ship Amokura, and the s.s. Gertie. Oil March G the Gertie spoke Capo Palliser lighthouse and reported the. missing Ilimitangi. This tmie, during a fog, the Himitangi struck a submerged rock off Tuapeka, which is six miles eastward of Cape Young, a conspicuous headland forming the northern point of Chatham Island, and, thanks to the wireless station that the Government has recently opened at the Chathams, the rows was reported' within a few hours, and shipping people, and others nrobablv. were saved a "ood deal of anxi#ty. "
