Church Dissension
j A MISCHIEVOUS CONTROVERSY. THE PRIMATE'S FEELINGSPROTESTANT DETEEMINATION. Times-Sydney Sun Special Cables. London, January 4. irv. Lan Malcolm, M.P., wrote to the Archbishop of Canterbury suggesting that lie might intervene and stop a dangerous controversy in Hie Press on the Kikuyu agreement. The Archbishop replied: l 'l entirely share your leelings as to the mischief arising from exuberant and sometimes heated controversy. My disappointment is great that my efforts to expedite the Bishop of Zanzibar's return havu been fruitless. I am at present without specilic information as to the exact request he desires to place before me. It would cause me genuine satisfaction if controversialists would laydown their pens and await such form of action as 1 must Like in dealing properly with what will be referred to me." j Tim Roman Catholic Tablet says that j High Churchmen 'have attracted so much attention of late years that it was becoming easy to think tliey were ! in a fair way to become the dominating party in the establishment. The Kikuyu discussion has revealed a solid body of determined Protestants. It would seem from the attitude of the secular papers that the great Protestant heart of the nation is much less affected by High Church activities than had appeared to be the. case.
