THE FINANCIAL YEAR.
For figures relating to company registrations, we arc indebted to the Mercantile Gazette. Up to December 20th there were 2li(i companies registered, with an aggregate capital of £1i,555,78/, .but one concern alone, the Union Steamship Company, is responsible for £3,000,000. Another concern, the Farmers' Co-operative Organisation Company, was registered withh a capital of £500,000. W. and G. Turnbull and Co., £IOO,OOO. There were several concerns registered .with capitals of £IO,OOO, £12,000. £20,'.OOO, £25,0011, £30,000 and.upwards. A •rough classification of the companies •registered gives us the following:—
