THE BEE INDUSTRY

KEEPERS - CONFERENCE. Wellington, June 19. The Beekeepers' Conference was resumed to-day. The amended constitution, providing that the Association be known as the '"National Beekeepers' Association of New Zealand," was adopted. It was resolved that the incoming executive consider a scheme of co-operation for the whole of the Dominion and report within six months. Mr. J. C. Ward read a short paper on the subject of honey export, in which he emphasised the necessity for concerted action. Mr. Ward considered that honey should be packed in 501b tins, and said that as regards putting their honey into London alone it seemed to him that they should not limit themselves, but should give attention to other countries. The president said that Liverpool had been decided upon as the receiving depot for New Zealand honey, and that very soon suitable markets would be found throughout the Old Country, according to where dark or light honey was most acceptable. Papers were read on queen-rearing by Mr. R. Stewart and foul-brood by Messrs R. (libb and AV. E. Barker. A deputation was set up to interview the railway authorities with a view of securing train freights on a parity with those for butter. Another deputation is to interview the Prime Minister with the object of having numerous amendments made in the Apiaries Act.
