THE HUME SEAT. THE LIBERALS LEADING. By Cable—Press Association—Copyright. Melbourne, June 20. The Liberal majority at Hume is now 394, with 800 effective votes remaining uncounted. The counting will be completed to-morrow. DISPUTED SEATS. Received 20, 11.30 p.m. Sydney, June 20. Mr. McQuay's request for a recount at Ballarat lias been refused, on the ground that nothing has been disclosed to justify it. Mr. Hedges, the unsuccessful Liberal candidate at Perth, has notified that it is his intention to test the legality of the clec lion. THE HUME SEAT. SIR W. LYNE OUSTED. MR. FISHER RESIGNS. Received 20, 11.55, p.m. Sydney, June 20. To-day's count placed the result of the Hume contest beyond doubt. Late figures give Mr. Patten a lead of 381 over Sir W.. Lyne, with only 350 uncounted. When, the Liberal victory was assured, Mr. Fisher accepted the inevitable and handed in his resignation. Mr. Cook departed for Melbourne to-night. r* 1
