Plumb (New Plymouth) 10.1, v. L. Wills (Hawera), 10.4. This went the full six two minute rounds. Wills, who was the more forceful and cooler fighter, had slightly the better of each round, except the second, which was practically even. Plumb showed very good footwork. Wills, the winner, was received with applause, the loser also being accorded an ovation. S. Mitchell (Auckland) 10.6 Vi, t. G. Willets (New Plymouth) 12.1. Willets, a cool fighter, who had much the advantage of weight, height, and reach, did most of the.leading in the opening round, though Mitchell, an Auckland welter champion, showed himself the ' possessor of a nasty left. In the second round, Willet'ts drove, Mitchell to the ropes with a jolt to the face, but the latter recovered and connected with a couple of lefts, having the better of the round. The third round was in th« Auckland boy's favour, he doing mtyrt °' the leading. Willett's blbws appeared' to lack power. The fourth round proved willing, both connecting with the left—a good, even round. Willetts forced the pace a little in the fifth round, and also in the sixth, when he used his left to better advantage in a hard fought round I The referee's decision was a draw. J. Kellv (New Plymouth) 8.3, v. It. Olliver (New Plymouth) 9. Kelly had the advantage of the opening round, which was pretty willing, Olliver's nasal organ showing signs of the conflict. The second round, a willing mix up, aJso appeared to be in Kelly's favor, his* *, !'£ work being better. The third round was ' ; : tame, both men being admonished by the . f t referee to fight. Kelly was inclined to ? take too much notice of outsiders. The fourth and final round saw Olliver connect with a right and left to the face, which roused Kelly, and matters got willing, both men mixing freely. , The referee ordered them to fight another round, midway in which Olliver received a blow on the solar plexus and was counted out. W. Coombes (Awatuna) 9.13, v. H. Bliss (Auckland) 9.13. Coombes, who was hitting very wild, did all the leading in this round, which was in his favor, though Bliss cleverly ducked and avoided most of the blows. Coombes had slightlv the better of the third round, though Bliss on two occasions failed to follow up an advantage. ,Tn the fourth round, ; 'Coombes again did most of the leading, s , though his blows lacked force. Bliss had the advantage of the fifth round, which was fairly willing. The final round was i all in favor of Bliss, who piled up points < solidly, and it was only the gong that Bayed Coombes from a knock-out. "Bliss, the winner," was a popular verdict, the. loser also being cheered. [< LIGHT-WEIGHT. ■ oi . I C. Johnson (Ohakune) 9.7, v. L. Chap- . man (Tongaporutu) 9.12.
