THE WAITARA THEFTS.. i ■,'':■ •■ To>th'eldtooii:\ Sir,—Re the recent burglar at Waitara, I see by jour issue of the 16th,.. that your informant says, there was card playing in the room,, which is absolutely incorrect.. The facta of the case are this: —At about twenty past ten, the proprietor came round to see that all lights were out. Whan he came to our room—the room the suspected men were in—we were just in the act of starting to play a game of cards, and he promptly stopped it. A dispute arose between the two suspects as to who was the cause of their not being allowed ta play. He then put them in separate rooms. We then, retired,, and in the morning my money was g,one, for which I blame myself. The men in question were also gone. This is a true and correct statement of what did happen. Now, in fairness to the proprietor, I would like you to find room for the above, and oblige, yours,, etc., ONE OF THE VICTIMS. Club Hotel, Waitara, | June IG, 1911
