BOXING.
THE AMATEUR STATUS. By Cable—Press Association—Copyright. Christchurch, Monday. At the, last meeting of the New Zealand, Boeing Council a letter was received' from the Queensland Association in respect to the status of League footballers. The Council expressed the opinion that the football pastime was not an athletic exercise, and if a League player signed a declaration that he had not. received payment, he could be i deemed to be an amateur. • It was decided to bring under the ! notice of the Northern Association the report that it was contemplating making arrangements with Mr. H. D. Mcintosh, for boxing contests in connection with the exhibition. The Otago Association reported that 'it had made tentative arrangements for ithe dates September 22 and 23 for the Australasias championships.
