ACCIDENTS AND FATALITIES.
RAILWAY HAND KILLED. Per i'ress Association. Hamilton, Monday, Daniel Field, aged 25 years, employed on the permanent way at Eureka, while riding on a jigger on Saturday night, was caught by the Cambridge train and kij'i-il.
A CARTER KILLED. Taihape, Monday. An accident which terminated fatally oeclined at Mataroa late on Saturday afternoon. Harold Nielson, aged 50, a single man, who was employed in removing a load of furniture, jumped on tho cart, and the horse started suddenly. Nulsoii lost his balance and fell. He was rntangled in the reins and dragged frr some distance. A wheel went over hi* had and down his body. Nielson was brought in to the Taihape Hospital &:u! succumbed last night.
BCRXED TO DEATH. Dunedin, Last Night. John Gallagher, 72 years'"of age, was burned to death in his hut at St. Bathans, at 11 p.m. on Saturday.' 1 It is believed that the accident occurred through a lighted candle upsetting while deceased was reading.
AN UNEXPLAINED ACCIDENT. 1 Wangamii, Last Night. | A distressing accident took place at Gonvillc this afternoon. A mnn named Reginald Connon was found unconscious on the road with a broken bicycle beside him. He had evidently been knocked down by a passing vehicle. At the hospital he was found to have sustained a large scalp wound, a broken jaw bone and a broken bone in the shoulder. He has not yet recovered consciousness, so has given no account of how the accident occurred. He is the sole support of a widowed mother
FOUND. DEAD. Auckland, Last Night. Yesterday morning the body of an old resident of Pukekohe, named Robert Latimer, was discovered at his home on Pukekohe Hill, by some wsitors to the house.' Mr. Latimer was a bachelor, and lived by himself. He was last seen m Pukekohe early in the week, and when the body was discovered yesterday it was evident that death had'taken place a day or two previously. Deceased was found in his night clothes lying on the floor alongside his bed. As deceased had been undergoing medical treatment an inquest was not considered necessary. The late Mr. Latimer was a man of means, and had lived in the district for about 40 years. '
