His Honor Mr. Justice Edwards arrived by the mail train last night to preside over the local sessions of the Supreme Court.
The Hon. W. F, Massey left Wellington last night for Christchurch. en route for Dunedm, where he will attend functions at which the Hon. James Allen in to be entertained.
Mr. Alexander Morris, at present malinger of the Bank of New Zealand in. IJunedin, has been appointed resident inspector in Wellington, and will leave for that city next month. Ho will be succeeded in Dunedin by Mr. Gil.bins, of limaru.
Mr. Rupert Jefi'kins, a noted racingautoniobolist, has arrived in Wellington from America, on a tour of New Zealand find Australia. He is stated to have broken all world's records in the ,>OO miles automobile international track race at Indianapolis last year. Mr. Jeffkins is giving a raining commentary- of a moving picture film of the race at a Wellington theatre.

toAi- P " enl)le raessa ge received in Wellington announces the death of Dr. lyancis Scobie Mackenzie, second son of the late Mr. Seobio McKenzic, formerly M.TIR. for Mount Ida. The deceased gentleman was bom in Central Otago 34 years ago. and was educated at the Otago Roys' Uio-h School and Edinburgh University. He was at one time medical superintendent of Whangarei, Hospital, find subsequently he bid charge of the hospital at Broken Hill, New South \\ ales. Dr. Mackenzie, who was unmarried was travelling by steamer from Melbourne to Perth when he died
