MOTOR ACCIDENTS.

MAN SERIOUSLY INJURED,

Palmerston North, Last Night. , Late on Saturday night, when two' young, men named McCullock, of Hawke's Bay, and Pratt, the' youngest Ron of J. R. Foster Pratt, of Palmerstcnv North, were proceeding to the latter's home at Fitzherlicrt, the motor car m which they were driving was, overturned a short .distance beyond Fitzherbert bridge. McCullock. who owned the car, was driving in, and, when preparing to negotiate the .sleep hill, which is approached with a turn, McCullock took too wide a sweep, and the wheel of the car struck the concrete edge of the culvert. The car turned over two or three times and was badly wrecked. Pratt was pinned beneath, and McCullock was thrown out. Cries for assistance were heard by some neighbours, and when'tjhey arrived ■ they extricated voung .Pratt, who was then'unconscious. Later, when medical help was obtained, it was found that he was very seriously injured about the head, and had sustained a fracture of the skull. Some of his ribs were also broken. McCullock was not seriously hurt, but Pratt now lies unconscious at the hospital. One of the tyres of the car was sent flying into some trees on the side of the road"!
