HOME OR FOREIGN? THE CHRONICLE'S SUGGESTION. By Cable—Press Association—Copyrjjght. ! Received 13, p.sa. London, <«ine 13. ; Commenting on Mr. Churchill's statement that the Government was considering tenders for naval oil from the Mexican Eagle and other companies, the Chronicle protests against the suggestion that the Government Is influenced by the Master of Elibank's connection with Lord Cowdray's firm. The Standard 'Oil is American, and the Shell Transport Co. Dutch, whereas the Mexican Eagle ,is •British controlled. The Chronicle advovates the Admiralty developing oil fields within the Empire under its own management. It is unfortunate that the Shell Transport Company has secured a monopoly in Trinidad, but there are unexploited fields in Canada, New Zealand .and elsewhere.
