THE DEATH SENTENCE.
A MANLY MURDER. By Cable—Press Association—Copyright. Received 14, 1.15 a.m. Sydney, June 13. Allan Main was found guilty with a .recommendation to mercy on account of his youth. He was sentenced to death. The defence pleaded insanity. A Sydney cablegram, dated May 27, said:—Allan Main has been committed for trial on a charge of murdering Overton, a Manly Jaundryman, during an attempted burglary. In a statement .to the police ho declared that he fired the first shot to frighten Overton, and did not intend to hit him. The .second was fired when Overton was holding him down. He intended to hit his arm. He handed over the stolen jewellery at the time ,of his arrest.
